Matt Kahn’s keen eye and sharp wit inspired Stanford design students for more than 60 years. In 2004, a forward thinking group recorded Kahn giving his famous lecture series, Design: Soul & Body. Now, we are sharing all six of the ninety-minute lectures so you can be inspired too.
Matt Kahn’s Design: Soul & Body lectures are hosted by the Stanford University Libraries, a gift from his children, Claire and Ira Kahn. These lectures formed the nucleus of Kahn’s intermediate studio design course. With them, he introduces us to the motivations behind design.
"No one could speak as eloquently, insightfully, or as inspiringly as Matt could about design and its relation to art. When listening to him lecture, I was truly in awe. He was also world-class at helping students through his critique of their work. I have never seen anyone do it better. All of us remember things that Matt told us that we use and share with others in our lives all the time."
